Get To Know Dr. Muzmml Raufy
Dr. Raufy grew up right here in San Diego, where he had many adventures, made great friends, and attended Mt. Carmel High School.
Upon starting college at UCSD, he initially thought he wanted to pursue engineering, but after struggling with physics, he knew it wasn't the right path. Luckily, a family friend who was a dentist introduced him to the world of dentistry, and it was love at first sight. From that point on, he was determined to become a dentist.
Dr. Raufy obtained his Masters in Biology and then his DDS degree from NYU. After graduation, he began his career as an associate at various dental offices throughout San Diego, gaining valuable experience, but always knowing that one day, he would open his own practice.
Dr. Raufy has developed a profound passion for cosmetic dentistry, driven by his unwavering commitment to enhancing patients' smiles and boosting their self-confidence. To further hone his skills, he is actively pursuing education at the prestigious Kois Center and has become a valued member of the esteemed American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. With a relentless dedication to his craft, Dr. Raufy aspires to attain accreditation from the AACD, striving to provide exceptional aesthetic dental care and achieve excellence in his field.
Dr. Raufy spends his time off with his wife, Muna, and their two adorable children, Yaseen and Ealaf. He is a huge Padres fan and you may catch him at Petco Park from time to time.

Get To Know Dr. Richard Sawaya
Dr. Richard Sawaya is a San Diego native and graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and then completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Naval Medical Center San Diego. After practicing as general dentist for several years, he went on to complete a three-year specialty training program in Periodontics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland where he also obtained a Master of Science Degree in Oral Biology. He is a board-certified specialist in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery by the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Sawaya’s professional membership include the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the San Diego County Dental Society. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Get To Know Dr. Joyce Turner
Dr. Turner obtained her BS in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego. Upon graduation, she attended the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry with a Health Professional Scholarship from the United States Navy.
Dr. Turner began her Navy career immediately after graduation and reported to Naval Dental Center Far East, Yokosuka, Japan to begin her Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program. After completion of her overseas tour, she reported to Naval Dental Center Southwest, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego as an Assistant Dental Officer. From there, she deployed on the first ever humanitarian effort aboard the USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), as part of Operation Unified Assistance relief efforts following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in the Pacific Ocean.
Upon returning from deployment, she began her Periodontics residency at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School and received her Specialty Certificate and Master of Science degree from George Washington University. Later she returned as faculty of the Naval Postgraduate Dental School for the periodontics residency program.
Returning to San Diego, she served as the Director, 13th Dental Company, 1st Dental Battalion, Naval Dental Center, 1st Marine Logistics Group Camp Pendleton, I Marine Expeditionary Force. Her final tour was at Naval Station San Diego, Naval Medical Center San Diego as a staff Periodontist/AEGD mentor.
Dr. Turner is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology and International College of Dentists. She maintains active memberships in the American Academy of Periodontology, American Board of Periodontology and Implantology, International College of Dentists, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and San Diego County Dental Society.
Dr. Turner loves working at Flawless Dental Studio because she is able to collaborate with expert professionals to provide unmatched dental care. We are committed to providing comprehensive, all in one patient centered care using the latest technologies. After traveling the world with the Navy, Dr. Turner and her husband now call San Diego home. They enjoy everyday activities with their three children and love exploring by camping in their RV.

Dr. MICHAEL R. ANDERSEN, MS, FACP
Dr. Andersen graduated from dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and completed a GPR at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda. Upon graduation from residency in Prosthodontics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, he received the Chief of the Dental Corps Award for Excellence presented to the top graduate across all residency programs for clinical and academic performance.
Following residency, he achieved Board Certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics and completed fellowship training in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Oral Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and San Diego County Dental Society. Dr. Andersen is passionate about improving quality of life for his patients and takes special interest in rehabilitation of patients with maxillofacial trauma, benign or malignant disease.
His favorite aspect of working at Flawless Dental Studio is the team's ability to provide patients with the highest quality treatment using the latest technologies and dental materials in a calm, safe, and collaborative environment. Dr. Andersen’s personal hobbies are exploring the many gifts San Diego has to offer with his beautiful wife and three wonderful children under the age of seven.

Get To Know Dr. Kelvin Chou
Originally from Chicago, Dr. Chou has lived in San Diego for the past few years. He completed his dental education at the prestigious University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Dr. Chou specialized in Endodontics from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School. His passion for dentistry stems from his desire to help others achieve healthy and beautiful smiles. As a valued member of Flawless Dental Sudio, he cherishes the collaborative spirit within his team and strives to create positive experiences for his patients. Outside of work, Dr. Chou enjoys touring the surrounding areas of San Diego and eating at various restaurants, especially Japanese cuisine. He is also a big fan of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears.
Janet
Dental Assistant
Born and raised in San Diego, Janet pursued her interest in the dental field. Experiencing ortho treatment growing up intrigued her to learn more and inspired her to help others feel confident in their smile. Finishing high school, she took courses to become a DA and loves interacting and caring for patients. Becoming a hygienist being the main goal keeps her striving for success and learning more everyday. When not at work, Janet likes to hit the gym and do other outdoor activities like the beach or offroading.
Jeanette
Registered Dental Hygienist
Jeanette has been a dental hygienist in San Diego since 2011, after finishing school in Portland, Oregon. She has focused most of her career on periodontal therapies and cleanings and finds joy in providing a comfortable and personalized experience for patients. When she’s not in the dental office, Jeanette is hiking, rollerblading, cooking, and teaching yoga.

What to Expect
At your first visit to our dental practice, you can expect a comprehensive and personalized experience that prioritizes your oral and overall health. Dr. Raufy will start by reviewing a thorough health history intake form with you, ensuring a holistic understanding of your needs. We'll also take your blood pressure reading to assess your overall well-being. Our state-of-the-art technology includes digital x-rays with minimal radiation exposure, as well as digital intraoral photos for a detailed review of your oral condition. You'll receive a thorough evaluation of your dental health, including a head and neck exam, TMJ evaluation, oral cancer screening, and a bite fit assessment. We'll also evaluate your gum tissue health, charting gum recession and mobility. Dr. Raufy will discuss your oral health history and evaluate any past dental work to provide an individualized treatment plan. And of course, you'll enjoy an awesome cleaning by our expert hygienist, Jeanette, leaving your smile feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

When it comes to ensuring the high quality, successful periodontic, endodontic, and prosthodontic treatment that we aspire to, some pieces of dental equipment are vital. We’ve invested in the best tools to promote thoroughly excellent care. Our office is equipped with the iTero Element 5D inta-oral scanner and periodontal laser technology, which allow us to take accurate scans and provide convenient, painless treatments. We also offer CBCT, which provides accurate measurements, including the shape and dimensions of your jaw. It also identifies gum issues and detects lesions that may indicate serious disease.
